I am a past Chair of the steering committee of BayCHI, the San Francisco Bay Area professional chapter of the ACM Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction (SIGCHI). I was elected BayCHI Chair for the two terms covering 7/96 - 6/98. Long ago, I administered the BayCHI Job Bank. (You can display an old picture of me wearing my official Steering Committee Steer Horns, but you probably don't want to. Consider yourself warned. There's a slightly better (but also old) picture of me at work you can look at if you must, and a couple more below.)
I grew up in Tenafly, New Jersey and graduated from M. I. T. (the place where the hack was invented!) with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering. Now I'm happy to live in Sunnyvale, California!
I used to suffer from Repetitive Strain Injury from my many years of constant typing. I recommend the typing injury home page to anyone with similar problems.
I occasionally brew my own
beer
at home. (OK, I haven't done it in years, but I like the little
beer mug icon.)
My wife Judy and I have two
cats.
Here is a
picture of Judy and me.
Here is a
picture of Judy with Rockie, our younger cat.
The photogenic Rockie appeared in the
1999 365 Cats Calendar.
Here's a shot of our older cat,
Polar Bear, basking in a sun patch.
Here's Polar Bear in her fetching
Christmas outfit.
See
why we need child-proof cabinets
even though we have no children.
I
am a fan of the Grateful Dead and,
of course,
Dilbert.
